Break the Silence.  Stop the Violence.

Eyes1.jpg (19297 bytes)

Working as a photojournalist in war-torn countries, Alyx has seen the effects of violence.  But it was her personal experience with abuse that influenced her to speak out for others. For years, her older brother abused her both physically and emotionally. Unable to confront the violence in her own home, Alyx moved to El Salvador then Mexico and Haiti, focusing on women and children within conflictive environments. Through her photographs, she provides a face for the victims of war and abuse.

In 1999, Alyx's brother shot and killed his infant son and then killed himself. Putting her profession on hold, Alyx returned to her family home and began the difficult journey to rebuild, forgive and move on.

Break the Silence. Stop the Violence, is an excellent addition to your existing syllabus, corporate training, or as a highlight during National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month - October, The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign - November 25 through December 10, or National Women's Month - March. This presentation shares personal experience with domestic abuse and offers the audience insights and perspective into the complex issues surrounding gender violence. Compelling images are an integral part of this presentation.
